Gardaí Implement Security Measures for Amgen Irish Open

The Amgen Irish Open is coming to Doonbeg in County Clare from September 9 to September 13, and with it comes a significant security operation involving Gardaí. The N67 road will be temporarily closed on weekends during the tournament, reopening on Monday, September 14. Residents attempting to access properties within the security cordon will need either a garda pass or ID and proof of address.

Visitors to the event can enter through the Park and Ride and/or shuttle buses, but an event ticket is required beforehand. Motorists are advised to turn off their sat navs and follow visible messaging signs from AA at all times. An information evening is planned for Thursday, September 3, in Doonbeg Community Centre to help locals understand the traffic management plan.

The local authority has been working with Doonbeg Community Development Ltd to ensure the village is prepared for the event. Significant improvement works have been carried out throughout the area, including at Lakeview Park. The tournament presents an opportunity to showcase County Clare's scenery and hospitality to audiences both at home and abroad, according to Mayor of Clare Joe Killeen.
