GE Aerospace Deal Seen as Positive for Industry by Honeywell CEO
Honeywell Aerospace's CEO Jim Currier views GE Aerospace's planned $12 billion acquisition of Consolidated Precision Products (CPP) as a positive development for the industry.
The deal aims to address jet-engine supply bottlenecks, with aerospace companies acquiring smaller manufacturers or moving production capabilities in-house due to strong demand from planemakers to increase commercial jet output.
Currier stated that Honeywell Aerospace does not compete with CPP and has no overlap within its portfolio. He believes the acquisition will have a positive impact on the industry overall, citing differences between the types of parts received by GE and those received by Honeywell from CPP.
Honeywell Aerospace has taken steps to bring back core technologies and capabilities outsourced between 2010 and 2019. Currier indicated that there is more work to be done in this area, suggesting potential opportunities for vertical integration through bolt-on mergers and acquisitions (M&As).
