Gemini and ChatGPT Reach Billion-User Milestone in AI Assistant Market
Google's AI assistant Gemini has reached a major milestone, surpassing 1 billion monthly active users. This makes it the company's 14th product to cross this threshold and its fastest-growing product ever, according to CEO Sundar Pichai.
The growth of Gemini has been rapid, increasing from about 750 million monthly users earlier this year to 950 million in July, and then reaching 1 billion in August. Over 100 million of these monthly active users are on Apple devices.
For comparison, ChatGPT reached the same milestone earlier, with 1 billion monthly active app users in May according to Sensor Tower data reported by Reuters. However, OpenAI emphasizes weekly active users for ChatGPT, which reached 1 billion in July and was publicly highlighted on August 6.
