Gemini Fails to Deliver Outside Google Ecosystem

As an experienced writer who has reviewed over 75 Android phones and worked extensively with AI assistants, I have found that Gemini's integration with Google's ecosystem is both its greatest strength and weakness. On one hand, being deeply integrated into Google services such as Drive and Gmail allows me to use Gemini seamlessly for everyday tasks like finding buried information in files and summarizing long documents.

However, when it comes to working outside of Google's ecosystem, Gemini falls apart. The AI assistant doesn't work with third-party tools and apps that I rely on for project management, research, CRM, communication, and more. While Gemini does support some third-party integrations through its MCP (Model Context Protocol) server URLs, the list is limited.

The problem with Gemini's approach is that it relies too heavily on Google's ecosystem, rather than adopting a more flexible and widely-used solution like MCP. This makes it difficult for me to use Gemini with other tools and apps that I rely on, which can be frustrating when trying to get work done efficiently.
