Gemini Hits 1 Billion Monthly Users, Revolutionizing AI Interactions
Google's Gemini app has reached an impressive milestone, surpassing 1 billion monthly users. This achievement makes Gemini the fastest-growing product in Google's history.
The app is being used for a wide range of tasks, from communication and education to creative work and practical activities. Voice interaction has become a key part of the Gemini experience, with 63% of users now speaking directly to the assistant. The number of users relying exclusively on voice has also continued to grow.
Gemini is also being used for tasks that involve the physical world, with one in five interactions going beyond voice through live camera feeds and screen sharing. This is particularly popular among people working on DIY projects and students seeking real-time assistance. Attachments are becoming a regular part of educational interactions, with 38% of requests submitted by students including an attached file or other material for Gemini to analyze.
The app is also becoming more closely integrated with users' everyday digital activities. On Android, Gemini can automate tasks across more than 40 widely used applications, including arranging rides and making restaurant reservations. On Apple devices, the platform has surpassed 100 million active iOS users, while power users on macOS are submitting prompts at roughly twice the frequency recorded across other platforms.
Google's focus is now on expanding Gemini's reach as it works toward serving the next billion users. The company's stated objective is to develop Gemini into a more personal and proactive assistant capable of supporting a broader range of tasks across users' digital and everyday lives.
