Gemini Lands on Windows: Google's AI Assistant Gets Easier to Use
Google has released a Windows version of its Gemini app, bringing its AI assistant to Windows 10 and 11 PCs. The new app allows users to summon Gemini with just a keyboard shortcut, [Alt] + [Space], making it easier than ever to access Google's AI.
The app is available globally for Windows 10 and 11 users, and can be downloaded today. Gemini has had a macOS app for some time, but this is the first version available for Windows.
One of the standout features of the new app is its ability to connect to other Google apps, including Gmail and Drive. This allows users to hand multi-step tasks over to Gemini Spark, Google's personal AI agent.
However, there are some limitations to the app. For example, it permanently displays a user's location at the bottom of the left-hand sidebar, which creates a significant privacy risk. Additionally, the app does not currently have a Gemini Live experience, like the one available on mobile devices, which allows users to talk to Gemini and ask questions about what it sees.
