Gemini Notebook Now Directly Queries Google Drive Files in Chat

Google is testing a new feature in its Gemini Notebook tool that allows users to query Google Drive files directly from the chat interface without adding them as sources first.

This change addresses one of the main complaints among Gemini Notebook's over 30 million users: the friction of adding sources one by one before using the tool.

The new feature appears to be in limited testing and has not been officially announced by Google. It is unclear what file types will be supported, which plans will have access, and how it will count against existing source limits.

Gemini Notebook is a research tool that lets users upload or connect documents and query them through a chat interface. Until now, this process required adding individual files as sources before they could be queried.
