Gemini Takes Over: How to Make It Behave More Like Google Assistant
The voice assistant Google Assistant is being replaced by Gemini in what's described as a 'seismic shift' for many devices. This change has been coming for some time and has already started on Android phones, tablets, Wear OS devices, and some Android Auto cars. However, some smart home devices and TVs will still support Google Assistant.
To make the transition easier, users can set their default assistant to Gemini on all their devices. This includes Google Home or Nest devices, which can be activated in the Google Home app under 'Home settings'.
Those who prefer a simpler experience with their voice assistant can turn off personalization features like Connected Apps in the Gemini app's Settings > Personal Intelligence section.
