Gemini Tries to Save Users Time with AI-Powered Phone Fixes
Google is working on several features that aim to reduce interaction time with its Pixel phones. This news comes after the Made by Google event introduced the Google Pixel 11 series last week.
A Telegram user, Brokenthrone, shared materials with Android Authority showing a new experimental Device Help feature being constructed within the Gemini app. The idea is that users can describe their phone issues in natural language, and Gemini will automatically identify and fix the problem.
The example provided shows a Pixel user telling Gemini 'My screen is too yellow', which causes Gemini to examine the device's settings and inform the user that the Night Light feature is likely to blame. This feature appears to be accessing users' Settings rather than providing generic advice.
Gemini seems to be burrowing deeper into the Pixel experience, given Google's confirmation via email that its Google Assistant will be phased out on 4 September.
In another Android Authority report, it was discovered that there could soon be more convenient app launching on Pixel phones. The 'App Launch Shortcut' feature is mentioned in Android 17 QPR2 Beta 2, which would allow users to open apps directly from the lock screen.
