General Atlantic Revives Plans for $130 Billion IPO Amid AI Market Boom
General Atlantic, a private equity firm managing approximately $130 billion in assets, has resumed its plans for an initial public offering (IPO), according to Reuters. The company had filed for a US IPO in December 2023 but did not proceed due to market conditions.
General Atlantic is now in talks with JPMorgan Chase (JPMC) and other investment banks, including Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley, to head up its IPO efforts. If the firm targets an IPO this year or next, it would join a number of major debuts, particularly in the AI market.
General Atlantic holds investments in firms such as Anthropic and Gymshark, and has been the majority shareholder in the Danish food and beverage firm Joe & the Juice since 2023. The company's decision to pursue an IPO comes as several other high-profile firms, including Anthropic and OpenAI, have filed for public listings.
