Giant Scale Model of Boeing C-17 Globemaster III Takes to the Skies
A massive scale model of the Boeing C-17 Globemaster III took to the skies during a sunset flight, despite having its landing gear stuck down. The 1:8 scale model, built by Ramy RC, spans 21 feet and weighs 330 pounds.
The reason for the stuck landing gear was due to a dead servo lock, which couldn't be replaced because the pilot didn't have any spare parts. This added drag to the aircraft, requiring them to change their flight plans.
The model's lights stood out against the fading sky, making it look even more convincing than usual. The pilot even commented that the aircraft sounded like something from Lord of the Rings during the flight.
