Goldman Sachs Appoints JPMorgan Vet as Indian Investment Banking Co-Head
Goldman Sachs has strengthened its investment banking team in India by hiring Chandresh Chheda, a former JPMorgan banker. As per an internal memo reviewed by Reuters, Chheda will join Goldman Sachs as co-head of investment banking and be based in Mumbai. He will work alongside Dev Nambakam to run the business.
Chheda brings over 22 years of experience in investment banking, including a decade spent in New York covering industrials at Deutsche Bank and JPMorgan. Goldman Sachs has confirmed the contents of the memo.
The bank's move comes as dealmaking and investor interest pick up in India. Goldman Sachs has advised on several high-profile deals in the country recently, including Life Insurance Corp's US$3.3 billion stake sale and Manipal Hospitals' US$1 billion IPO, both announced this month.
