Goldman Sachs Backs $75M Bet on Biotech Firms CAPR, SLS and IBRX
Goldman Sachs has made significant investments in three biotech firms: Capricor Therapeutics (CAPR), Sellas Life Sciences (SLS), and ImmunityBio (IBRX). The Wall Street giant now holds nearly $75 million in combined holdings across these companies.
The investment firm increased its stake in Capricor to 73% by adding 666,155 shares. This move comes as the company prepares to amend its Biologics License Application (BLA) for Deramiocel after an FDA advisory committee voted against its effectiveness for treating cardiomyopathy in Duchenne muscular dystrophy patients.
Sellas Life Sciences also saw a boost from Goldman, with a 5.2% increase in shares to 585,035. Investor attention remains on the company's Phase 3 Regal trial of Galinpepimut-S (GPS) in acute myeloid leukemia patients. The trial has recorded 78 of the required 80 events and is expected to release top-line results after completion.
ImmunityBio, meanwhile, saw a slight decrease in Goldman's stake, from 3.23 million shares valued at $28.32 million down to 3.21 million shares. The company has reported significant commercial momentum around its immunotherapy Anktiva, with second-quarter net product revenue increasing 92% year-over-year and 15% sequentially.
