Goldman Sachs has secured $11.7 billion in fresh capital for its private equity business, pursuing a two-track strategy of large-scale control acquisitions and regionally focused mid-market investments.

The firm's flagship buyout fund, West Street Capital Partners IX (WSCP IX), held its final close at $9.6 billion on March 15th. Institutional investors and high-net-worth individuals from North America, Europe, and the Middle East were primary limited partners, with significant numbers of Goldman Sachs employees and shareholders also committing capital.

The Asia-Pacific dedicated fund, West Street Asia Equity Partners I (WSAEP I), raised over $1.6 billion in its first closing, combined with $500 million from a related co-investment vehicle, totaling $11.7 billion in fresh capital.
