Goldman Sachs CEO Solomon Owns Small Amount of Bitcoin
Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon revealed that he personally owns 'very little' Bitcoin (BTC) during his speech at the World Liberty Forum in Palm Beach. He stated, 'I'm still trying to figure out how Bitcoin behaves.' This admission contrasts with Goldman's institutional stance on Bitcoin just a few years ago when the bank's research teams characterized it as a speculative asset with limited utility.
The bank's latest regulatory filings show that Goldman has indirect exposure to approximately $2.36 billion in crypto assets through U.S.-based spot ETFs, including positions in Ethereum (ETH), XRP (XRP), and Solana (SOL). This exposure is valued at roughly $920 million after a nearly 50% decline from its peak.
Solomon also highlighted the bank's efforts to understand digital market infrastructure and its potential applications. Goldman has assembled an internal team focused on tokenization, stablecoins, and prediction markets. The firm is cautious about rushing into these new areas but sees opportunities for expansion of existing businesses.
