Goldman Sachs Hauls in $11.7 Billion for Private Equity Push
Goldman Sachs has raised $11.7 billion for its private equity push through West Street Capital Partners IX and West Street Asia Equity Partners I, a fund focused on the Asia-Pacific region.
The flagship buyout fund, West Street Capital Partners IX, closed at $9.6 billion with institutional investors and high-net-worth individuals committing as limited partners from North America, Europe, and the Middle East.
Separately, Goldman Sachs raised more than $2.1 billion for West Street Asia Equity Partners I, which combines control acquisitions of small and mid-sized companies with growth investments in the Asia-Pacific region.
The private equity unit plans to use the capital for buyout deals and growth investments in areas such as services, financial services, technology, healthcare, consumer goods, and energy transition.
Goldman Sachs has already deployed capital from West Street Capital Partners IX into Schellman, a U.S. cybersecurity certification services provider; Numan Tech, a European medical device maker; and Excel Sports Management, a U.S. sports management firm.
