Goldman Sachs Poaches Nomura's Global CTO to Lead 'The Core' Department

Goldman Sachs has hired Dinesh Keswani, former Global CTO of Nomura, as Partner and CTO for its 'The Core' department. This comes after a three-year stint at Japan's Nomura, where Keswani led a major transformation program across technology engineering and operations.

The Core is described by Goldman Sachs as the firm's functional areas that enable business activity, providing a framework, oversight, and foundational processes for scalability and effective operation. The Core Engineering unit at Goldman has over 2,000 engineers who deliver analytics, data, engineering, and quantitative capabilities to six of the bank's core units.

Keswani will be co-head of the unit alongside Gopi Parameswaran. He will work with teams across The Core to drive sustained innovation, apply consistent practices, governance, and processes, and achieve scaled engineering solutions for the entire organization.

This move is seen as a win for Goldman Sachs, but also a loss for Nomura, which has recently lost Group CIO Patrick Eltridge after a similar three-year stint. Keswani's appointment is expected to bring significant expertise in driving innovation and standardization of systems and software within the bank.
