Goldman Sachs' Private Equity Fund Hits $9.6 Billion Milestone
Goldman Sachs has raised $9.6 billion for its flagship buyout fund, West Street Capital Partners IX, in what is seen as a significant boost to its private equity business.
The latest fund, the ninth version of Goldman's main buyout fund, was oversubscribed and attracted capital from big institutions and wealthy clients across North America, Europe, and the Middle East.
The bank also raised $1.6 billion for West Street Asia Equity Partners I and $500 million for co-investment vehicles, demonstrating its efforts to build a broader private-markets platform.
According to Michael Bruun, Goldman's global co-head of private equity, more than one-third of the fund has already been invested, with the rest expected to be deployed over roughly four to four-and-a-half years.
