Goldman Sachs Sees Artificial Intelligence Transforming Business Models

Goldman Sachs has released its findings from its third annual Silicon Valley AI field trip. The investment bank met with AI companies, venture capital firms, and academic researchers to assess the impact of artificial intelligence on its coverage universe.

The bank identified four key conclusions from its meetings: proprietary information will become more valuable as AI adoption grows; AI applications are moving beyond simple information delivery into workflow execution; physical services and education platforms appear better protected than business models reliant on white-collar staffing volumes; and monetization methods are expanding beyond traditional seat-based pricing.

Goldman Sachs believes competitive positioning will depend on whether companies own differentiated data, control critical workflows, and can convert higher AI-enabled activity into additional customer spending. The bank cited specific examples from its coverage universe, including implications for FactSet Research Systems, S&P Global, Thomson Reuters, Verisk Analytics, and Moody's.

The investment bank expects AI to produce different stock outcomes based on information ownership, workflow control, business-model exposure, and the ability to convert adoption into measurable revenue.
