Goldman Sachs stock surpassed the $1,000 mark in late August 2026, buoyed by record second-quarter earnings. The firm's revenue and earnings surged year-over-year, with net revenues reaching $20.34 billion in Q2 2026, a 39% increase from the same period in 2025.

The Global Banking and Markets division was a primary growth engine, delivering net revenues of $15.52 billion, up 53% compared to the prior-year quarter. Within this segment, equities net revenues reached $7.42 billion, an increase of 72% year-over-year, while fixed income, currencies, and commodities revenue came in at $4.59 billion, a rise of 32% versus the prior-year period.

The bank's ability to turn strong trading and investment banking environments into high profitability is underscored by its return on equity, which reached 23.5% in Q2 2026. This level supports both dividend increases and share repurchases while maintaining a strong balance sheet and regulatory capital ratios.
