Golf Tournaments Set to Boost Tourism in County Clare
The Irish Open and Walker Cup golf tournaments are set to return to County Clare in September, bringing with them a boost to tourism and community development. The Amgen Irish Open will be held at Trump International Golf Links & Hotel in Doonbeg from September 10-13, while the Walker Cup will take place at Lahinch Golf Club on September 5 and 6.
These events are expected to draw significant visitor numbers, with over 100,000 people attending the Irish Open in 2019. The tournaments will showcase the region's stunning coastal landscape and world-class hospitality to a global audience.
Clare County Council is playing a central role in coordinating local infrastructure and promoting the county as a premier destination for sport and tourism. The Council has been working closely with Doonbeg Community Development Ltd to ensure that the village is fully prepared for the event.
A number of special events are being organised around the Irish Open, including the Doonbeg Fáilte Fest in the village. This will feature music on the main stage, entertainment for children and families, and a big TV screen showing the golfing action.
