Golfers Fall Short at Amgen Irish Open Amid Challenging Conditions
The first round of the Amgen Irish Open was played in challenging conditions at Trump International Doonbeg, with wind and rain making it tough for players to complete their rounds.
Among those who missed the cut were several notable names, including David Puig, Thomas Detry, Laurie Canter, Thorbjorn Olesen, Nicolai Hojgaard, Thriston Lawrence, Seamus Power, Padraig Harrington, and Tyrrell Hatton.
Puig, a LIV Golfer who claimed his first DP World Tour title at the 2025 Australian BMW PGA Championship, shot identical rounds of 71 to miss out by one shot. Detry also made an albatross in the opening round but couldn't capitalize on it, missing the cut by one shot.
Harrington, a three-time Major winner and former Irish Open champion, was eight over after two rounds, while Hatton, who has eight wins on the DP World Tour, finished on the same score to miss the cut by seven shots.
