Google Abandons China Pixel Production, Targets 13 Million Sales in 2026
Google is set to end production of its Pixel phones in China as soon as next year, marking a significant shift in the company's manufacturing strategy. According to a report by Nikkei Asia, Google aims to sell around 13 million Pixel phones in 2026, up from 12 million in 2025.
The move is part of Google's long-running effort to relocate production outside of China, with Vietnam and India emerging as key manufacturing hubs. The Pixel 11 series was developed and produced entirely in Vietnam, giving the company confidence to expand its operations in the region.
Despite the ongoing 'RAMageddon' situation, which has led to skyrocketing costs and price hikes on Google's latest Pixel 11 series, the company is committed to growing its Pixel sales. To mitigate the impact of rising component costs, Google has been bundling orders for Pixel components with those from its cloud business.
A source familiar with Google's plans described the company's strategy as 'attack', emphasizing the need to grow Pixel sales at all costs in 2026.
