Google Acquires Spirit Airlines Data for $10 Million in Auction
Google has acquired Spirit Airlines' data for $10 million as part of the airline's liquidation process. The tech giant outbid Mercor, a company that connects professionals to AI training projects, which had offered $7.5 million.
The purchase includes emails, chats, and customer complaint data, as well as information related to Spirit's finance, accounting, operations, website analytics, and the Free Spirit loyalty program.
No identifiable personal data will be transferred to Google, according to a court filing. The company has stated that it will use the data to improve its products and AI models.
