Google Adds Natural Language Feature to Discovery Feed
Google's Discovery feed is set to gain a new natural language feature that will allow users to tell the app what stories they want to see. This update, which will be rolling out in the coming days, lets users tap on any three-dot menu in their feed and type in specific topics or news categories they're interested in.
For example, if a user wants to see articles about kitchen renovation tips and ideas, they can simply enter that into the text field provided. Gemini, Google's AI-powered content curation tool, will then generate a list of relevant stories based on the query.
If users aren't happy with the initial results, they can refine their queries by sending additional prompts to Gemini. This process can be repeated until users are satisfied with the direction of their feed.
Other changes coming to the Google app include customizable audio briefings in Google News for Android users and a new 'Preferred Sources' button that allows publishers to promote their content within the app.
