Google Allows Users to Remove Visible Watermarks from AI-Generated Content
Google has announced that it will now allow users to remove visible watermarks from its AI-generated content, including images, videos, and songs. The move reflects an evolving approach to labeling AI-generated media, balancing creative control with the need for transparency.
The change affects the Gemini AI models, specifically Nano Banana, Omni, and Lyria, which will have a toggle available in their settings to turn off the visible watermark. This feature is rolling out in the coming days and can be accessed through Settings > Media Watermark.
The company is also open-sourcing a new library called Credentio, allowing developers to embed a local validation mechanism in their apps. This comes after Anthropic's move to include watermarks in text and files generated by Claude to comply with EU regulations.
