Google Alum Leaves Lucrative Job for Farm-to-Family Venture in Punjab
Mantaj Sidhu left a €100,000 job at Google in Dublin to return to Punjab and start a business that connects urban families with farmland and fresh produce.
Sidhu joined Google Hyderabad in 2018 before moving internally to its Dublin team, where he worked on Google Ads partnerships and business strategy for leading UK advertising agencies.
He began questioning the corporate world after seeing his colleagues' daily routines and pressures and realized that a bigger salary wasn't enough reason to stay. The pandemic delayed his move to Ireland, but he eventually made it in late 2021.
Sidhu's concern about food and farming changed during his time in Europe, particularly with regards to the chemicals and pesticides used in everyday produce. He wanted his family to have access to food whose source and growing process they could understand.
