Google, Apple Accused of Abusing App Marketplace Dominance
South Korea's media watchdog has concluded that Google and Apple violated laws related to in-app purchases, claiming they abused their dominance in app marketplaces.
The Korea Media Communications Commission (KMCC) made this decision at a regular meeting held on August 12. The level of sanctions will be decided at a later date.
The two US tech companies are accused of bypassing the revision to the telecommunications business act passed in 2021, which aims to prevent large app market operators from forcing developers to use their in-app payment systems.
