Google has agreed to settle a class-action lawsuit for $68 million. The suit alleges that Google Assistant can activate and record communications without user intention, as well as wrongfully collect, use, and disclose audio recordings.

The settlement applies to customers who purchased a Google-made device in the US or its territories between May 18, 2016, and March 19, 2026. Eligible users can file a claim online, by phone, or through the mail before August 27, 2026.

The final payment amount will depend on the number of valid claims submitted. Google has denied the allegations made in the lawsuit.
