Google Axes Pixel Tablets Amid Duplication Concerns
Google has halted production of its Pixel Tablet series, citing a lack of need for another device that essentially duplicates smartphone functionality. In an interview with Bloomberg, Shakil Barkat, Google's vice president of devices and services, revealed that the company is waiting for a 'worthwhile future' for the tablets before continuing production.
The move comes as part of a larger trend at Google, which has seen the company discontinue several products in recent years. The Pixel Tablet may be worth buying for collectors, but its demise leaves users with fewer options for accessing information through Google's services.
Some users have expressed fondness for the Nexus 7 tablet, which was praised for its integration within the Google ecosystem. However, others have criticized the Pixel Slate for being expensive and lacking support from Google, which plans to end updates for the device in 2027.
