Google has entered into a partnership with MN8 Energy and Eos Energy Enterprises to bring long-duration energy storage solutions to West Virginia. The project aims to increase round-the-clock clean power availability for local digital infrastructure, including a planned Google facility in the region.

The collaboration pairs utility-scale solar with both short-duration lithium-ion batteries and long-duration zinc-hybrid batteries manufactured by Eos in Pennsylvania. This deployment marks the first of its kind for these zinc-hybrid batteries, which will be used to strengthen the PJM grid.

This project establishes a new model for combining proven and emerging technologies to enhance the grid's resilience. The goal is to provide clean and affordable energy solutions that can support local digital infrastructure, including Google's planned facility in West Virginia.
