Google Bookings Go Live in AI Mode
Google has officially integrated hotel booking into its AI Mode interface in the US. This move marks the end of a pilot program and allows users to book and pay for hotel rooms directly from the conversational interface.
The integration is currently available only in the US, but it relies on initial partners such as Expedia, Booking.com, Hilton, Hotels.com, Choice Hotels International, IHG Hotels & Resorts, Priceline, Marriott International, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, and Trip.com.
According to James Byers, group product manager for Google Travel, the goal is to provide comprehensive results and give users a choice. AI Mode results are not subject to paid advertising placements and are presented as organic.
The integration of hotel content into AI Mode foreshadows the upcoming integration of flight content. Google has also simultaneously launched flight price tracking within AI Mode, but no information is available regarding the business model for this integration.
