Google Boosts Water Stewardship Projects with $77m Injection
Google is expanding its water stewardship projects across the United States with an additional $77 million investment, bringing its total financial commitments to $94 million. The tech giant aims to replenish more freshwater than it consumes by 2030 and has already replenished over seven billion gallons of water in 2025.
The new projects will focus on restoring streamflow for the Apache Trout in Arizona and Georgia, enhancing wetlands at the Flint River Wildlife Management Area with Ducks Unlimited, and optimising water reuse at Fort Wayne City Utilities in Indiana.
Google is also helping Iowa farmers convert 5,000 acres to perennial hay and pasture systems, reducing fertiliser use. The company will expand green infrastructure programmes in Michigan, Minnesota, and Missouri, restoring floodplain forest along the Zumbro River and converting native wetlands near the Blue River.
