Google Breaks Ground on Massive Data Center Campus in Tulsa County
Google and Beale Infrastructure have announced plans to build 'Project Clydesdale', a massive data center campus in unincorporated Tulsa County near Cherokee Industrial Park. The project, which spans 506 acres, will join Google's global network of data centers that power various technologies, including online banking and hospitals.
The planned investment includes commitments from Google to engage with the local community, manage water responsibly, and train a talented workforce. This is not the company's first foray into Oklahoma; it has invested over $15 billion in the state since 2011 and currently has facilities under construction in Stillwater and Muskogee County.
Google's Public Affairs Manager for Oklahoma, Trystine Payfer, stated that 'Building data centers the right way means being a good neighbor first.' The company will be building its own on-site substation with the help of Beale Infrastructure, which will strengthen energy reliability and grid stability across the region.
Project Clydesdale is expected to bring significant public infrastructure upgrades, including enhanced transmission and distribution system reliability. Google has signed over 15 agreements since 2011 to enable the development of more than 2.5 GW of new power generation and storage projects in Oklahoma.
