Google Brings Custom Chat Themes and Wallpapers to Messages
Google has rolled out custom chat themes and wallpapers for its Messages app after months of testing. Users can personalize individual conversations with custom colors and backgrounds, giving them more control over how each conversation looks.
The feature allows users to choose from preset wallpapers or upload their own photos, with matching message bubble colors. The preset wallpapers are organized into categories such as Animals, Landscapes, and Space. If a new background color or wallpaper is chosen, Messages can automatically adjust the bubble colors to match, although users can still change the color palette manually.
To use custom chat themes, RCS must be enabled on the device, and each theme is private to the user, meaning it won't affect how others see the conversation. This feature follows a similar concept introduced by WhatsApp last year, giving Messages users more flexibility in personalizing their conversations.
