Google has finally launched its Gemini desktop app on Windows, ending five months of exclusivity on macOS. The app is now available globally on Windows 10 and Windows 11 via x64 and ARM64 devices.

The Gemini desktop app allows PC users to access the service directly without using a web browser. While the base app is free, advanced features and higher usage limits require a Google AI subscription, which starts at $4.99 a month.

One of the key features of the app is its ability to give system-wide access to Gemini on PC. By pressing Alt + Space, users can open a Gemini overlay on top of any window, allowing them to ask questions about onscreen content or request that Gemini summarize or rewrite it.

The app also includes a side panel with various features, including chat history, a daily brief, Notebooks, recents, document and media libraries, and connected apps like Gmail, Drive, and Docs. Additionally, the app integrates with other services such as Nano Banana for image generation and Gemini Omni for AI videos.
