Google Brings Gemini Enterprise to Big Law with Custom Legal Platform
Google Cloud has launched Gemini Enterprise for Legal, a custom version of its Gemini Enterprise platform designed specifically for law firms and corporate legal departments. The launch is part of Google's push to extend its enterprise platform across industries, following a similar move with Ryanair in the logistics sector.
The new product includes skills, connectors, agents, and an open partner ecosystem, all governed by a single dashboard that enforces security policies and maintains private data isolation. Skills are reusable instruction packages designed by domain experts to teach agents specialized tasks, while connectors are secure links into document management systems such as iManage and NetDocuments.
The four launch firms, Cleary Gottlieb, Freshfields, Weil, and Williams & Connolly, have existing legal AI commitments and will collaborate with Google on the platform. The permissions model is designed to ensure client data and firm playbooks remain private, bound by role-based controls, document-level permissions, and ethical walls in underlying systems.
Google has also named Accenture, Deloitte, Devoteam, Factor Law, KPMG, Tribe.ai, Valtech, Zazmic, Zencore, and 66degrees as systems integrator and legal-tech partners. The company notes that healthcare and life sciences editions are next in the industry series.
