Google Brings Gemini to Android: Analyze Spreadsheets on-the-Go

Google has introduced Gemini in Google Sheets on Android devices, aiming to make spreadsheet analysis less painful on mobile. This feature allows users to tap a sparkly icon and ask Gemini to summarize tables, spot trends, and create charts directly from their phone. The app can analyze data and provide insights without needing manual digging through rows of numbers.

For example, if you've been tracking your monthly spending in a spreadsheet, you could ask Gemini to summarize where your money went or highlight anything unusual. This feature is particularly useful for quick visual overviews, as it can create charts from the data.

However, more complex tasks such as generating formulas and advanced formatting are still best handled through the web version of Gemini in Sheets. This limitation means that while the mobile experience is improved, it's not quite at par with the desktop experience.

The rollout has begun, with wider availability expected over roughly the next 15 days. Access to this feature is currently limited to eligible Google Workspace and Google AI plans.
