Google Brings Intuitive 'Tap to Share' Feature to Android Phones
Google has unveiled Tap to Share, an intuitive feature for Android phones that enables users to initiate sharing connections between devices by bringing their tops together. This new gesture is a more natural way to start Quick Share without having to navigate through menus or find the recipient in a device list.
The feature works on Pixel 6 and newer models running Android 17 or later, with Google stating that it will expand to other Android phones later this year, including Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8, and more. However, there are some limitations - Tap to Share is not available for apps used in a Work Profile and requires NFC enabled on both devices.
Users can initiate Tap to Share by simply placing their phones together with their screens facing up and visible, without needing to select content beforehand. Once the connection is established, users can choose what they want to share, including photos, videos, files, website links, or other content through Quick Share.
