Google Builds AI Chip Team in Israel for Robots and Autonomous Systems
Google has established a new team in Israel to develop AI chips for robots and autonomous systems. The team, led by Guy Kaminitz, an executive at Israeli chip company Hailo, is working on an AI chip that can run artificial intelligence tasks directly on devices instead of on cloud servers.
The newly formed team is a part of Google's existing chip development operations in Israel, which were started under its Google Cloud division in 2021. The company currently employs around 700 engineers in Tel Aviv and Haifa.
Kaminitz announced on social media that he has taken charge of the initiative to develop AI chips for robots. The team is working on an AI chip intended to speed up processing and reduce dependence on cloud computing resources.
