A glitch in Google's Business Profile (GBP) is leaving small retailers stuck in search limbo, just as they prepare for the back-to-school season.
The issue, which began around July 30, has product listings stuck in 'Pending' status. According to SEO professionals and business owners, the problem affects both new and established listings, causing commercial consequences that can be significant.
Thomas Phillips, founder of DTC SEO Agency, believes that repeatedly editing or resubmitting affected products could worsen the situation, effectively restarting the review process if Google's systems are experiencing delays. 'If this is a platform-wide issue, every resubmission sends your product back into the review process,' he notes.
The importance of Google Business Profiles cannot be overstated. It enables retailers to showcase products, promotions, opening times, customer reviews, photographs and other information directly within Google Search and Maps.
