Google Calendars Ditch Reply Emails in Organizers' Inboxes
Google Calendar users will no longer receive an email notification for each guest's response to a meeting invitation. This change aims to reduce clutter in organizers' inboxes, particularly for large events where numerous responses can flood their inbox.
The update, which started rolling out on August 28 and may take up to 15 days to complete, also disables automatic out-of-office notifications, holiday reminders, and other similar messages. For domains with a scheduled update cycle, the rollout will occur on September 10 and last between one and three days.
To disable these notifications, users can toggle off the 'Receive an email when guests reply' option when creating an event in Google Calendar. This setting applies to all participants, including those using third-party apps like Microsoft Outlook. However, it's worth noting that this limitation may cause a participant's status not to appear in the event.
The change will be available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers, and personal Google account holders. Organisation administrators will not be able to centrally disable or modify this setting.
