Google Changes Maps to Reflect Trump-Ordered Name Change for Lake Ontario
Google has updated its maps service to display 'Lake America' when people in the United States search for the term, following an executive order signed by U.S. President Donald Trump this week.
The change only affects users in the U.S., who can currently see Lake Ontario written out as such on Google Maps, but a specific search for 'Lake America' pulls up the lake with that name.
Google stated in a post on its corporate website that it made the change because of an update to the U.S. government's geographic names database.
