Google Cloud Leaves AWS, Azure in Dust with Record-Breaking Growth
Google Cloud's revenue growth has left Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure in its dust. The Alphabet subsidiary announced an 82% year-over-year increase in revenue for the quarter ended June 30, 2026.
This marks a significant shift in the cloud services sector, which has been dominated by AWS and Azure for years. While both companies have grown their cloud revenue as well, Google Cloud's growth rate far surpasses theirs. AWS saw its revenue grow by 37%, while Microsoft reported a 43% increase in Azure revenue.
The reason behind this rapid growth is the increasing demand for AI infrastructure and solutions, according to Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai. However, investors are getting impatient with the massive price tags for building out these capabilities. Amazon's capital expenditures forecast was raised by 10% to $220 billion, while Alphabet increased its capex guidance by about 8.1%. Microsoft, on the other hand, kept its capex at $175 billion after a minor accounting change.
