Google Cloud Tackles Agentic AI Cost Risks with New Tools and Billing Options
Google Cloud has introduced new cost management tools and expanded billing flexibility for agentic AI workloads across Gemini Enterprise and developer tools. The move aims to help enterprises better navigate the financial and operational risks present in deploying autonomous AI agents.
Michael Gerstenhaber, Vice President of Product Management, Cloud AI at Google Cloud, notes that every organization manages AI workloads differently. To address this, Google Cloud is offering predictable per-user licensing, pay-as-you-go consumption, or discounted tiers for growing at scale.
The new tools are designed to help businesses unlock the full potential of agentic AI agents with financial transparency and efficiency. This includes embedding spend controls and clearer usage visibility in Gemini Enterprise.
Agentic AI workloads can silently eat away at token costs due to issues such as multiplicative retry loops, context rot, hard stops, and idle infrastructure. To mitigate these risks, Google Cloud is introducing flexible billing options, including per-user seat subscriptions and pay-as-you-go consumption.
The expansion of Google Antigravity in Gemini Enterprise will now include the app at no additional cost for users. This integration allows for seamless enablement of central audit logging and compliance reporting requirements.
