Google Commits $6 Million to West Texas Communities Amid Data Center Expansion
Google has pledged $6 million to West Texas towns as part of its data center expansion in the region. The announcement was made on August 7 at a dinner hosted by data center officials at the Haskell Civic Center.
The funds will be distributed among various non-profit organizations, including healthcare providers and community groups. Google's Community Development Manager for West Texas, Hailey Stuteville, acknowledged that the company had not always been a good partner to the community, but expressed commitment to making things right.
Stuteville emphasized that true partnership involves showing up, taking responsibility, and following through on promises. She listed various donations, including $1 million to the Haskell Memorial Hospital Foundation, $750,000 to the Haskell Foundation for infrastructure support, and $50,000 to the Haskell Pregnancy Center.
