Google Confirms Brief Indexing Reporting Bug Was a Short Blip
A temporary bug affected Google Search Console yesterday, causing some websites to incorrectly report as not indexed. The issue was resolved within an hour and confirmed by John Mueller from Google as a 'short blip.' Glenn Gabe spotted the problem on his own sites and tweeted about it, prompting others like Ryan Tree to check their own sites. Matthew Mellinger also reported seeing a large number of pages showing as 'Crawled - currently not indexed' using data from the Search Console API.
According to Mueller, the team double-checked and confirmed that the issue was resolved quickly in the night before posts about it went out. He also mentioned that nothing breaks if indexing is working as expected, even if it's reported differently, and it's easy for people to double-check their homepage.
