Google CrUX Report Now Tracks Ad Metrics for Web Experiences
Google has introduced new ad metrics in its Chrome User Experience Report (CrUX), aiming to provide transparency into websites' ad experiences. The report now includes Ad Count, Ad Density, and two types of Ad Weight: Network Usage and CPU Usage.
The Ad Count metric measures the average number of ads visible in a user's viewport, while Ad Density calculates the fraction of the viewport area occupied by ads. Ad Weight (Network Usage) estimates the resources consumed by ads in bytes, and Ad Weight (CPU Usage) measures this consumption in milliseconds.
According to Google, these metrics are particularly useful for web advertisers and services that place ads on websites. The new ad metrics are available through the CrUX API and History API today and can be viewed in the CrUX Vis tool.
