Google Data Center Coming to Columbia County, Georgia
Columbia County leaders in Georgia gathered for the second annual 'Future Forward Summit', hosted by the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Authority. The event focused on growth in the county, with a representative from Google sharing updates on its partnership with the community.
Jen Ryan, a Google representative, spoke at the summit about the company's data center coming to Columbia County. She emphasized that the facility will follow certain standards for noise, lighting, and water usage, addressing some misinformation about data centers not employing many people.
Columbia County Commissioner Doug Duncan praised county leaders for their efforts in negotiating with Google, saying they 'went to bat' for the community during negotiations.
Ryan expressed appreciation for the county's leadership, stating that Google looks forward to being a part of the community and is planning events for the public to get information and ask questions.
