Google Data Center Project Approved in Barber County

A Google data center project, dubbed 'Project Helium', has been approved in Barber County. The commission voted 2-0 to finalize the agreement, with one commissioner abstaining from the vote.

The new facility will be located north of Sharon and span approximately 1.7 million square feet, housing thousands of computer servers.

According to Google, the data center is expected to create up to 500 new jobs, with most positions being full-time and on-site.
